Somatic Movement

I am sometimes asked, What does "Somatic" mean?

For me, it can be described as everything movement and dance can offer without being performative.  Somatic work supports you as an individual, to build physical intelligence and promote health and wellbeing

Classes are considerately designed to make dance improvisation more accessible to newcomers, while offering plenty of delight and interest for the experienced dancer. Exercises offer technique, stimulate creativity, increase mobility, strength, awareness and confidence. Drawing on disciplines ranging from Feldenkrais, meditation, contemporary dance, yoga and fitness.

I regularly request anonymous feedback as part of my pedagogical and active teaching practice.

"  I feel relaxed after movement and more relaxed and open to share, and that I've achieved something.  "

"  Everything Ella was an amazing facilitator. My mood improved so much and despite a painful back I was able to participate fully with Ella’s support.  "

"  The freedom it left me to be able to follow what I felt, whilst still suggesting other possible moves.  "

"  Very good group. Excellent movement exercises v well demonstrated  "

"  The movement mirroring section allowed me to connect without all the difficulties I usually encounter.  "

"  very important class for me  "

"  Wonderful teacher. Supportive and warm and an amazing dancer "

"  Enjoyed connecting to the Earth movements. Instructor was very clear.  "
